“Sanctuary (2008)” is an exciting science fiction and fantasy series that unfolds the mysterious world of mythical beings among us. Dr. Helen Magnus, a seemingly normal scientist with phenomenal longevity thanks to a vampire blood treatment, leads the series. The 157-year-old scientist is the protector of what she refers to as ‘abnormals’ – creatures of various types, some mythical, some more familiar like mermaids and werewolves.
Read More“Sanctuary” is a place she carved out for these abnormals outside the purview of traditional science or society’s acceptance, forming a humane shield protecting these beings from harm and humanity from any unwanted confrontations. Magnus, along with a competent team, investigates situations and even combats when the need arises.
Her team includes a forensic psychiatrist, Dr. Will Zimmerman, and her fearless daughter Ashley. Other major characters include the tech-wiz Henry Foss, a lycanthrope himself, and Bigfoot, a legendary creature who serves as the Sanctuary’s maintenance man and chef.
